About The Position

The University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism Program has a position for a clinical faculty member. The selected candidate will hold a faculty position as Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (fixed-term faculty) commensurate with experience in the Department of Psychiatry, UNC School of Medicine. Positions are potentially available at any of our locations across North Carolina: Asheville, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Raleigh, and Wilmington. Clinical Faculty at TEACCH engage in a combination of clinical, research, and teaching activities. Clinical opportunities include maintaining a diagnostic and treatment caseload of autistic clients across the lifespan consistent with faculty expertise. Teaching opportunities include supervising trainees, providing consultation, and training of other professionals locally, nationally, and internationally. TEACCH faculty engage in a variety of community-based research activities with current research projects covering the lifespan from promoting access to care for Black toddlers, transition to adulthood interventions, and mental health intervention and services research for autistic adults and older adults. The successful candidate’s research activities may range from providing clinical services on an intervention trial, evaluating assessment data from a research database of more than 14,000 individuals diagnosed by TEACCH , and/or pursuing independent research. The blend of clinical, teaching, and research activities will depend on the successful candidate’s expertise and career interests.

Requirements
