About The Position

The Department of Sarcoma Medical Oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an Open Rank, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA). This role involves practicing clinical medicine, representing the department in professional matters, developing and maintaining a clinical practice, engaging in research, and educating trainees. The position requires exemplary clinical practice, participation in departmental and institutional committees, active involvement in clinical research, and teaching responsibilities. The faculty member will serve as a role model and contribute to the advancement of sarcoma treatment through research and scholarly activities.

Requirements

Completed a doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission from an accredited medical school or equivalent.
Completed residency training in Internal Medicine.
Completed fellowship in Medical Oncology or equivalent.
Eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Texas.
At least five years’ experience post degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinician scientist or GME trainee.
Ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of critical infrastructure.

Experience in lecturing at other academic institutions.
Experience serving as an advisor, consultant, or expert to government agencies, academic institutions, or pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical companies.

Responsibilities

Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner according to established standards.
Represent the Department of Sarcoma Medical Oncology in local, regional, state, and national matters.
Provide complete and thorough patient examinations and perform invasive procedures as dictated by subspecialty.
Develop and maintain a clinical practice for referred patients.
Provide physician staffing for inpatient and outpatient clinical services.
Visually review for proper ICD-10 and CPT coding and approve all charge documents within five working days.
Complete patient documentation for medical records within institutional time frames.
Correspond with physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
Keep abreast of current approaches in patient management through continuing education.
Request appropriate consultations for patients.
Provide a role model as a practitioner and scientist.
Provide peer review for assessing clinical and research practices of faculty.
Effectively and collegially work in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Serve on departmental and institutional committees.
Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activity.
Develop programs of translational research and scholarly activities.
Actively seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research.
Contribute to the literature by publishing original research.
Attend and participate in Division/Department teaching and continuing education conferences.
Provide education and training for fellows, residents, and students.
Supervise clinical and laboratory research projects conducted by junior faculty, post-doctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students.
Represent the department in local, regional, state, and national matters, which may involve travel.
Participate in extramural activities to foster clinical research, facilitate access to new therapies, and promote high-quality patient care.
