The Clinical Evaluator conducts legislatively guided risk classifications of registered sex offenders and must be able to support recommended classifications before Sexual Offender Risk Review Board (SORRB) members and during court testimony. The role includes comprehensive risk assessments for juveniles, males, females, and non-contact offenders, as well as specialized assessments involving court orders or requests for reevaluation. Evaluators identify risk-relevant information in collateral documents, including static, dynamic, protective, and individualized risk factors. The evaluator reviews criminal history summaries; summarizes sex offenses, violent non-sexual offenses, community and prison behavior, specialized treatment and polygraph information, and information supplied by the offender or attorney; scores actuarial instruments; and recommends a level of risk for sexual reoffense. Court testimony is required when needed, and evaluators must know the facts, dates, and content of their reports. Evaluators attend weekly online staffing meetings and in-office meetings as directed. New hires complete approximately 12 weeks of intensive in-office training. The first year is a probationary period with monthly and then quarterly feedback. Ongoing in-office and online training is provided to improve skills, reduce errors, and optimize processes. After the first year, evaluators are expected to complete a specified number of cases, depending on various factors. The position is hybrid and based in Atlanta, Georgia.
