The Clinical Engineering-IT Technician supports the operations of the Clinical Engineering Department with regards to production medical equipment IT systems and various Connectable & Connected Device Inventory (CDI) projects. This role involves responding to and supporting client-driven integration projects, medical device network configurations, connected device inventory management, service and repair requests, identifying and remediating fault conditions, or collaborating with the Client Information Technology Department to resolve issues. The technician will utilize downtime plans, logistics, and training to support operational data workflows of integrated medical devices and the production environment. Ensuring clinical equipment systems are fully inventoried, interfaced, and/or integrated with various information systems in a consistent and dependable manner, in accordance with conventional networking and security practices, the Medical Equipment Management Plan, and TRIMEDX policies and procedures, is key. The role also involves supporting new construction, renovation, and integration projects, assisting hospital IT with inventory, planning, maintenance, and management of LAN/WAN-based and integrated medical equipment network devices, and collaborating with the enterprise TRIMEDX CE CYBER program. The technician will ensure the Clinical Engineering program and associates maintain the connected device inventory with relevant information in the TRIMEX RSQ platform. They will serve as a Clinical Engineering project management representative for the implementation of clinical equipment requiring network connectivity, interface configurations, and/or CDI, preparing project timelines, milestones, and establishing roles and responsibilities. This includes working directly with vendors and all levels of staff for scheduling and coordination, forecasting changes, and communicating issues. Developing service documentation, data maps, network layout diagrams, and knowledge articles for integrated medical devices, and providing technical instruction and training are also part of the role. Assisting the hospital in writing downtime plans for major systems where Clinical Engineering has ownership of the device, and providing full life-cycle support on all integrated Medical Equipment are required. Maintaining a clean and safe workplace is essential. The role fosters an environment of innovation, identifies and removes roadblocks, and enables collaboration between clinical engineering and IT services, advocating for networking and IT skills throughout the department. Identifying, developing, and serving customers and stakeholders to the highest level of satisfaction is paramount. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for briefing management on statuses, risks, best practices, and timelines. The technician will champion medical device integration projects, inform management of unusual situations, and work with the team to drive improvements in operational delivery and technical skills. Collaboration with clinical leadership, hospital IT, and vendors on change management, downtimes, and disaster recovery procedures, as well as quality-of-life improvements for supported systems, is expected. Representing Clinical Engineering systems in incident management, project intake, and security review meetings is also a responsibility. Travel may be required to other Client sites, TRIMEDX sites, or the Indianapolis office for training and support. Facilitating the installation and integration of Clinical Engineering systems in new hospital and clinic acquisitions and expansions is also part of the role.
