About The Position

The Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering clinical education and competency-based training for TRAA employees. This position supports the Clinical Department in maintaining a high standard of clinical practice, ensuring field personnel remain competent in required clinical skills, and promoting continuous professional development. The Clinical Educator serves as a clinical resource and educator for paramedics, AEMTs, EMTs, and other clinical staff. The position assists with new employee onboarding, continuing education, skills assessments, remediation, clinical simulations, and competency evaluations. Working under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Clinical Educator helps identify educational needs based on clinical performance, quality improvement findings, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and operational trends. The Clinical Educator is expected to serve as a positive clinical role model and promote TRAA’s culture of patient safety, professional development, accountability, and clinical excellence.

Requirements

Current Indiana Paramedic certification
Current CPR/BLS, ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS, and PEPP certifications.
Obtain card class instructor certifications in AMLS, PHTLS, ACLS, EVOS, CPR, PEPP within a year of position.
Minimum of 1 year of progressive EMS field experience.
Demonstrated experience providing high-quality patient care in a 911 EMS environment.
Strong clinical knowledge and demonstrated competency in EMS patient care.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet TRAA’s vehicle operator requirements.
Ability to successfully complete required background, credentialing, and employment screening.
Strong knowledge of EMS clinical practices, medical protocols, and patient care standards.
Strong teaching and presentation skills.
Ability to explain complex clinical concepts in an understandable and engaging manner.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a preceptor, field training officer, instructor, educator, or mentor preferred.
EMS Instructor certification or equivalent educator credential.

Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, and deliver clinical education programs for EMS personnel.
Provide classroom, hands-on, simulation-based, and competency-focused training.
Assist with the development of annual clinical education plans.
Deliver continuing education on current EMS practices, treatment guidelines, medical protocols, and emerging clinical topics.
Develop educational materials, presentations, skills stations, case studies, simulations, and competency assessments.
Incorporate evidence-based practices and current EMS standards into educational programs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training and make recommendations for improvement.
Maintain accurate records of employee training, attendance, certifications, and competency assessments.
Assist with coordinating required continuing education and clinical training activities.
Serve as a key clinical educator during new employee orientation and onboarding.
Provide clinical orientation to new EMTs and paramedics.
Conduct and document required clinical skills evaluations.
Assist with new employee clinical competency assessments.
Provide additional coaching and education when new employees do not meet established clinical standards.
Collaborate with Operations, HR, and the Clinical team to support successful transition of new employees into field operations.
Assist with Safety Committee, and mentoring programs as assigned.
Conduct routine and as-needed clinical skills assessments.
Evaluate employee competency in required clinical procedures and equipment.
Provide constructive feedback following skills evaluations.
Identify individual and organizational education needs based on competency results.
Develop remediation plans in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisors when performance concerns are identified.
Document all competency evaluations and remediation activities appropriately.
Assist with maintaining employee clinical credentials and competency requirements.
Work closely with the Clinical Supervisors to identify educational opportunities resulting from Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities.
Review clinical trends and performance data to identify areas requiring additional education or training.
Assist with developing targeted educational interventions based on patient care trends, clinical incidents, and protocol changes.
Participate in clinical case reviews and educational debriefings.
Assist with root-cause analysis and performance improvement activities when requested.
Provide education and coaching following clinical performance concerns.
Maintain confidentiality regarding employee performance and patient information.
Stay current with developments in EMS education, clinical practice, medical technology, and evidence-based patient care.
Support the Clinical Supervisors in the delivery and coordination of Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) training.
Assist with EVOS classroom and practical training as assigned.
Assist with competency evaluations related to emergency vehicle operations.
Incorporate lessons learned from vehicle incidents, near misses, and safety trends into educational programs.
Support organizational driver safety initiatives and other safety-related education.
Assist with additional safety training initiatives as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of employee training and competency requirements.
Monitor completion of assigned clinical education and competency requirements.
Assist with tracking certifications, licenses, continuing education, and required training.
Utilize TRAA’s designated training and learning management systems to document employee education.
Ensure training documentation is maintained in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Assist with preparation for regulatory reviews, audits, and accreditation activities as requested.
Work closely with Operations, Medical Direction, HR, and other departments to support clinical education initiatives.
Communicate training needs, employee competency concerns, and educational trends to the Clinical Director.
Assist with clinical education projects and organizational initiatives.
Participate in clinical committees, workgroups, and special projects as assigned.
Support TRAA’s employee engagement, mentorship, recognition, and professional development initiatives.
Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for TRAA’s clinical standards and organizational culture.
