About The Position

The Clinical Educator position will be responsible for facilitating the professional development of business unit licensed and unlicensed employees to enhance professional competency, including (but not limited to) educational assessment, planning, and outcome evaluation. This position requires theoretical and practical knowledge in education, clinical nursing, and leadership skills to facilitate the delivery of quality care in all clinical disciplines, which is performed under minimal supervision. Assignments require collaboration to address staff educational and training needs within a clinic specialty practice area.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a clinical resource and role model to staff in developing clinical knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Plans employee orientation and onboarding activities and competency verification documents for onboarding.
  • Plans and delivers an array of educational programs to clinical staff.
  • Develops, coordinates, administers, facilitates, conducts and evaluates orientation programs. Makes adjustments as needed to onboard employees successfully.
  • Participates in identifying essential competencies and educational programs and develops and maintains the knowledge and skills of clinical staff.
  • Performs annual and ongoing educational needs assessments to develop and amend new hire, annual, and ongoing business unit competencies.
  • Assesses the learner's educational needs and develops plans for learning experiences appropriate for meeting recognized needs.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional programs and make recommendations for program content revision.
  • Performs clinical evaluations and makes clinical judgments based on a synthesis of concepts, principles, models and theories to solve complex problems.
  • Remediates staff as requested by leaders in the organization. Determines causative factors and develops learning plan.
  • Participates in case reviews to identify opportunities to use real studies to create learning moments for other clinicians.
  • Research best practices and assist with implementation in clinical settings.
  • Acts as liaison with administration, clinicians and committees regarding educational effectiveness and development programs.
  • Develops and/or assists in development of educational programs, presentations and/or patient education materials; plans and prepares curriculum content and course outlines in conformance with program objectives and accreditation standards; modifies and updates existing educational programs and/or patient education materials or recommends modifications as appropriate based on needs assessment/research.
  • Serve as an internal consultant for specialized clinical instruction in an effort to ensure competencies are developed and maintained.
  • Develop and assist in annual clinical competency review.
  • Plans and conducts various in-service education and other educational programs for clinical personnel throughout the clinics to meet competency assessment requirements in conformance with departmental objectives, evidence-based standards and accreditation standards.
  • Participates in committees and meetings to facilitate the improvement of patient care and the development of goals, philosophies, and objectives for a specialized patient population.
  • Develops and assists in implementing nursing care standards based on clinical evidence that are specific to the patient's needs.
  • Assist with the development of a clinical ladder for clinical positions.
  • Models excellence in clinical practice and functions as a facilitator and innovator for high-quality clinical care with direct involvement in implementing and evaluating new techniques and equipment for safety, cost-effectiveness, and benefits related to clinical practice.
  • Completes assignments in a reasonable amount of time and maintains flexible work patterns to meet the educational needs of staff.
  • Provide education on the electronic health record, along with the assistance of the IT department.
  • Develops evidence-based standards of care, policies, and protocols.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives and projects.
