About The Position

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for an RN Clinical Educator Nursing to work with the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) department. Our CVOR features state-of-the-art technology, including Stryker integrated video and a Philips single-plane Hybrid OR. This department comprises 7 operating rooms supporting all cardiac surgery services, including thoracic organ transplantation (heart and lung), mechanical circulatory support, structural heart, congenital, and advanced aortic surgery. This hybrid role integrates the responsibilities of a Clinical Educator and Clinical Mentor, delivering formal education, competency development, coaching, and individualized professional guidance to support clinician onboarding, foster evidence-based practice, promote ongoing professional growth, and advance excellence in patient care delivery.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master’s program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master’s program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following: Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date, Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses, Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
  • 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
  • BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.

  • Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
  • Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members.
  • Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them.
  • Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.
