About The Position

A Clinical Director, Health Center, plans, directs and coordinates the operations of a clinical student health program located at various city school clinics. Work of this class involves directing the activities of nursing, health and medical support staff at health clinics. Incumbents receive general supervision from an administrative superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed primarily in an office where normal working conditions are encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health or nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of experience as a nurse practitioner in a health center.
  • One year of supervisory experience in a multi-site health center program or comparable clinical program.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse in Maryland.
  • Certification as a pediatric or family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland at time of appointment.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health administration.
  • Knowledge of clinical diagnostic, treatment, consultation and counseling principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent primary care standards.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate a large multi-school-based comprehensive student health program.
  • Ability to develop clinical protocols, to evaluate programs and to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, health department officials and students and their parents.
  • Ability to develop in-service training sessions and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare complex narrative and statistical reports.
  • Supervisory ability.
  • Administrative ability.
  • Authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed for positions of trust.
  • Must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
  • Education must be obtained from an accredited institution.
  • Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency.
  • Provide complete and accurate information on application to show minimum qualifications.
