Job Summary The RN Coordinator/Specialist – Medical/Surgical is responsible for coordinating and supporting patient care across the Medical and Surgical Units. This role collaborates with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals to ensure efficient, high-quality care delivery and optimal patient outcomes. The RN Coordinator/Specialist assists with care transitions, monitors care standards, and supports quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance in an acute care environment.

Requirements

  • Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) from an accredited school of nursing (Required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of practice Upon Hire (Required)
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Upon Hire
  • 2+ years acute care inpatient nursing experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (Preferred)
  • Master’s Degree in nursing, healthcare management or administration (Preferred)
  • Prior Experience in care coordination, quality improvement, or clinical leadership (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily care activities across Medical and Surgical Units to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff and support adherence to protocols and policies.
  • Participate in patient rounding, discharge planning, and patient/family education.
  • Monitor quality indicators, regulatory compliance, and participate in performance improvement projects.
  • Facilitate communication among providers, staff, patients, and families to promote continuity of care.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Support onboarding and ongoing clinical development of unit staff.
  • Assist with coordination of supplies, equipment readiness, and unit operations.
