About The Position

This position is a faculty member in the EMS program following the guidelines established by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Sciences profession (CoAEMSP) and Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and as delegated by the EMS Program Director. The position has responsibilities for the day-to-day oversight all clinical aspects of the program. A faculty member with this assignment may also be tasked with teaching program didactic curriculum as required.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Nationally Registered certification and Arkansas licensure as a Paramedic or Arkansas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or higher. RN applicants are also required to hold certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician or higher and the corresponding Arkansas licensure at that level of EMS provider.
  • Three (3) years of experience as an EMS provider for a licensed emergency response agency or a minimum of three (3) years of nursing experiences in an emergency department or other critical care environment.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Arkansas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Instructor certifications (or eligibility): Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 6 months of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 6 months of hire. Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) – within 12 months of hire. International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) – within 12 months of hire.
  • Arkansas EMSP instructor license at the ALS level or eligibility within 4 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience as a licensed Paramedic with an emergency response agency or RN in emergency department or critical care environment.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in EMS, health sciences, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an Arkansas EMSP instructor at the paramedic level.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all clinical activities of the EMS program in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Teach clinical education courses throughout the academic year, including summer semesters.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in clinical instruction, evaluation, and student supervision.
  • Coordinate clinical education with didactic instruction to ensure integrated learning.
  • Maintain student clinical competencies and provide direct/indirect clinical supervision.
  • Develop clinical schedules, syllabi, and orientation materials.
  • Collect, maintain, and report all required clinical documentation, including: o Immunizations, background checks, drug screens, federal exclusion checks. o BLS, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS certification records. o HIPAA and Standard Precautions compliance training.
  • Participate in EMS-related recruitment events and community outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with all CoAEMSP and CAAHEP accreditation standards.
  • Maintain confidential student records in accordance with FERPA.
  • Maintain personal clinical and educational competencies in areas of instruction.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or college leadership.
