About The Position

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking a Clinical Coordinator-Counseling Services (AP26-093) to provide advanced clinical leadership and direct mental health services within Counseling Services and the integrated Cougar Care model. This role supports same-day access, crisis response, triage, management of high-acuity and complex cases, continuity of care, and coordination across services. Direct clinical service is provided strategically to support timely access and stabilization needs rather than maintaining a traditional ongoing caseload. The position also provides clinical supervision and oversight for staff and practicum students through individual and group supervision, consultation, training, and professional development. The Clinical Lead strengthens front-line clinical capacity, improves timely access to care, reduces service bottlenecks, and supports stepped-care pathways and crisis response efforts across the counseling center. This role aligns with professional standards and the Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act (110 ILCS 58).

Requirements

  • Licensed (or license eligible) in the State of Illinois for independent clinical practice.
  • Training in DSM-5-TR diagnosis and classifications, therapeutic orientations, and treatment modalities required.

  • Minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical experience in a mental health setting.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, behavioral health consultations, and case management.
  • Understanding of suicide risk assessment and ability to intervene with individuals who may be at risk for harm to self or others.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a clinical team member.
