About The Position

This is an internal opportunity for a Registered Psychologist within the current therapist team to take on a Clinical Consultant role. The role involves partnering with the Director of Counselling to provide an additional clinical perspective, particularly when psychology-specific expertise or same-designation consultation is beneficial. This position is initially a six-month pilot to evaluate consultation needs, utilization, role clarity, and future development opportunities. The role is designed to complement existing clinical leadership and recognize the expertise of various professional designations.

Requirements

• Currently practicing with DiveThru
• Active registration in good standing as a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists
• Demonstrated experience navigating complex clinical situations across populations relevant to DiveThru’s services
• Strong ethical reasoning and professional judgment
• Strong understanding of applicable psychology standards, ethical requirements, and professional expectations
• Experience providing professional, clinical, or peer consultation within their areas of competence
• Strong working knowledge of psychology-specific scope of practice, competence, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and regulatory considerations
• Awareness of the limits of their own professional and jurisdictional authority
• Respect for expertise across professional designations and a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to care
• Ability to distinguish professional opinion from organizational authority
• Clear, thoughtful, and respectful communication
• Strong follow-through
• Ability to maintain appropriate and proportionate consultation documentation
• Capacity to recognize conflicts of interest and appropriately recuse themselves where required
• Comfort identifying uncertainty and seeking additional consultation when appropriate

Responsibilities

• Provide focused consultation regarding complex or higher-risk clinical situations, ethical questions, professional boundaries, documentation, scope of practice, and psychology-specific standards or regulatory considerations.
• Provide same-designation consultation when another Registered or Provisional Psychologist would benefit from the perspective of a fellow psychologist.
• Offer psychology-specific analysis where regulatory, competency, documentation, assessment, or professional-practice considerations would benefit from additional expertise.
• Contribute to requested reviews of clinical policies, protocols, procedures, tools, programs, services, partnerships, or models of care.
• Provide clinical input when leadership is considering complex client concerns, incidents, or complaints.
• Support thoughtful clinical reasoning by identifying relevant considerations, potential options, uncertainties, and areas requiring further consultation.
• Clearly distinguish professional opinions and recommendations from approved DiveThru organizational direction.
• Recognize the limits of your competence and identify when regulatory, legal, supervisory, jurisdiction-specific, or other specialist consultation may be required.
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Counselling and other applicable organizational leaders when clinical recommendations may have broader organizational implications.
• Identify actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest and step back from consultation where your prior involvement, relationships, interests, or responsibilities could reasonably affect—or appear to affect—the impartiality of the consultation.
• Maintain appropriate and proportionate documentation of consultation in accordance with the process established for the role.

Benefits

• Compensation for this position will be $100/hour.
• We will clarify compensable activities and billing expectations—including consultation, preparation, requested record review, meetings, follow-up, and required documentation—before the role begins.
