Requirements

  • Full-time position
  • Based in Jersey City
  • 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday
  • Must be able to obtain lab specimens as ordered by MD.
  • Must be able to obtain EKG as ordered.
  • Must be able to function as a clinic phlebotomist.
  • Must be able to maintain participant/caregiver confidentiality.
  • Must be able to assist in ordering and storage of clinic supplies.
  • Must be able to assist in cleanliness and preparation of examination rooms.
  • Must be able to stock and replenish supplies for clinic use and maintain inventory.
  • Must be able to escort participants to appointments as needed.
  • Must be able to assist Medical Assistant with scheduling and transportation requests.
  • Must be able to fax orders, request old medical records, and compile admission packets.
  • Must be able to fax medication lists to pharmacy and perform follow-up procedures.
  • Must be able to prepare assessment packages.
  • Must be able to answer the telephone, screen calls, and take messages.
  • Must be able to greet and direct visitors.
  • Must use effective communication skills.
  • Must follow all Lutheran Senior LIFE Policies and Procedures, OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Must utilize infection control and prevention principles and practices.
  • Must maintain a courteous, helpful and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission and values of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey.
  • Schedules external office and special in-house appointments based on doctors orders and coordinates with transportation department as needed.
  • Ensures that consultations are forwarded to medical records department for authorization.
  • Ensures that appointment information is communicated to all necessary departments, participants and caregivers.
  • Completes and maintains logs for labs, medical appointments, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Completes equipment log sheets as assigned.
  • Obtains Lab specimens as ordered by MD.
  • Follow order tracking procedure and protocol.
  • Obtains admission data i.e. VS, BP pain level height and weight.
  • Functions as clinic phlebotomist and performs related procedures to preserve the integrity of specimens collected.
  • Obtains EKG as ordered.
  • Ensures lab specimens are ready for courier to pick up.
  • Files results once primary care physician has reviewed results.
  • Monitors the receipt of diagnostic test results and gives them to primary care physician to be reviewed and signed.
  • Receives and files clinic medical information into appropriate records and files as needed.
  • Maintains participant/caregiver confidentiality.
  • Assist in the ordering and storage clinic supplies as requested.
  • Assist in cleanliness and preparation of examination rooms for participants during clinic hours (before, during, after and in-between participant exams/procedures) to ensure efficient running of the clinic.
  • Stocks and replenishes supplies for clinic use and maintains inventory of the supplies as indicated.
  • Assists in escorting participants to appointments as needed.
  • Assists Medical Assistant with scheduling clinic and specialist appointments and completing transportation requests as needed.
  • Ensures that the delivered supplies are completed per established procedures, working with other departments as needed.
  • Monitors expiration dates.
  • Faxes orders, request old medical records and compiles admission packets to be sent to nursing homes and assisted living facilities when medical records is not available.
  • Faxes medication lists to pharmacy and performs any necessary follow-up procedures.
  • Prepares assessment packages and assists in planning and scheduling home visits by clinical staff.
  • Answers the telephone, screens calls, and takes messages.
  • Greets and directs visitors.
  • Uses effective communication skills, including a courteous telephone manner and skills, with all departments, co-workers, participants and caregivers, team members, outside professionals and equipment vendors.
  • Follows all Lutheran Senior LIFE Policies and Procedures, OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Utilize infection control and prevention principles and practices established by the organization including CDC guidelines in the provision of care and services.
  • Maintains a courteous, helpful and professional attitude on the job.

  • Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by my supervisor, necessary for the efficient operation of the department/facility.
