About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) Divisions of Cardiology are seeking outstanding Cardiologists with expertise in Clinical Cardiology for a full-time position. This role is primarily based at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) with a potential clinical role at St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH), both of which are University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospitals. The Divisions are involved in the care of patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular disease across British Columbia. The VGH position will include ambulatory general cardiology clinic, Cardiology Stat Clinic, and inpatient cardiology consult service. Candidates with a focused interest within General Cardiology, such as Cardiac Rehabilitation, Valve Diseases, Inflammatory Conditions, Pericardial Disease, Obesity, Addictions and Urban Health, Remote Outreach to Underserved Populations, Cardio-Oncology, and Women’s Heart Health, will be considered more favorably. Academic or health system skills in areas like Medical Education, Quality Improvement/Assurance, Systems Management, Bioethics, Health Policy, Quality Metrics, and Clinical Innovation are also desirable. The Divisions operate an academic practice plan, and candidates are expected to contribute to it, with eligibility for a supplementary stipend for exceptional academic contribution. The successful candidate will have a General Cardiology outpatient practice, inpatient hospital consultative service, hospital clinics, and access to electrodiagnostic resources. This role will also be an unpaid clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at UBC, supporting the development and growth of UBC Cardiology research and education programs. UBC Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, with the final rank determined by the UBC Department of Medicine's Appointments and Promotion Committee. Requirements

  • FRCPC designation in Internal Medicine and Cardiology or their equivalents
  • Eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels
  • Exceptional work ethics and collegiality
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) - Mandatory
