About The Position

The University of Florida (UF) Department of Urology at UF Health Shands Hospital is a tertiary referral center that serves the population of north central Florida, southern Georgia and surrounding communities. The candidate would join a mature practice within the department, which has 17 additional urologists who support general, endourology, oncology, female, pediatric and reconstructive urologic surgery. The University of Florida is ranked 5 in the top public schools in the nation. UF College of Medicine is one of 16 colleges within the university and these additional colleges as well as the UF Cancer Center provide an environment rich in cross departmental collaborations. We are seeking a candidate with broad experience in all aspects of open, minimally invasive (laparoscopic/da Vinci robotic) and endoscopic treatments as applied to general urologic conditions. We are primarily seeking candidates whose clinical focus is coverage of both office and surgical treatment of general, and small urologic cases. The candidate would join a robust multidisciplinary team of physicians including fellowship-trained urologic oncologists and pediatric urologists. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to serve as a mentor and teacher for UF urology fellows, residents and medical students from UF Health Shands Hospital at the UF College of Medicine. Additional resources including four daVinci robotics, UroNav MRI-US fusion prostate biopsy technology, urologic oncology nurse navigator as well as four shared mid-level providers to support the candidate’s clinical practice. For those candidates with a keen interest in pursuing research as part of their academic career, the UF College of Medicine is a superb location to practice as it offers excellent intramural funding opportunities in addition to traditional government funding mechanisms. The UF College of Medicine is ranked in the top 50 of all U.S. medical schools for NIH research dollars awarded to medical schools and is ranked No. 22 among public institutions. Protected time for research is available for qualified candidates who receive research funding. Mentorship from experienced faculty members will be provide for candidates without prior independent research experience and/or funding. Strong interest and participation in clinical trials is required and will be conducted in conjunction with the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute and UF Cancer Center.

Requirements

  • M.D. degree or equivalent
  • Board certified/eligible
  • Current valid Florida Medical License
  • Licensed in or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida
  • Board certified or eligible
