About The Position

The University of Denver (DU), founded in 1864, is an independent, R1 doctoral-granting university known for its problem-based scholarship and student-centered approach. The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP), established in 1976, offers a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program, master's programs, and online certificates. GSPP is dedicated to transforming mental health and wellness through academic programs, experiential training, applied research, and community engagement. The PsyD program follows the practitioner-scholar training model and emphasizes culturally responsive services. This is a benefited, clinical-track position effective September 1, 2026, with an administrative role as PsyD Practicum Director. The position involves teaching, scholarship, service, clinical supervision, and administrative duties. The faculty member will provide clinical supervision to first-year students through the Professional Psychology Clinic (PPC) and may be called upon for onsite clinical supervision. Scholarship expectations are minimal, focusing on doctoral paper committees and publications/presentations. Service responsibilities include committee work, admissions processes, competency exams, and academic advising. The administrative role of PsyD Practicum Director includes a 9-credit reduction in teaching load and involves overall administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of the practicum program, including recruiting placements, managing the selection process, ensuring appropriate clinical training, and ensuring compliance with DU and APA standards.

Requirements

A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a related field.
License eligible as a doctoral-level psychologist in Colorado within 3 months.
Experience with teaching, clinical supervision or trainees, research and scholarship, service, and/or relevant professional experience, commensurate with rank.

Licensed in the State of Colorado as a doctoral-level psychologist.
Minimum 3 years of post-doctoral experience in the field of clinical psychology.
Minimum 1 year of clinical supervision or clinic management.
A demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical service, research, and/or training appropriate to the missions of the PsyD program and GSPP.
Accomplished graduate-level teaching and mentorship that reflects a variety of instructional approaches and/or curricular perspectives to engage diverse populations and learning styles.
3 years of experience in an agency or equivalent providing counseling/psychotherapy and assessment.
Experience providing or supervising clinical services to populations of interest to PsyD students.
Curriculum development experience.
Administrative experience, particularly in an APPIC training setting.
Experience tracking and reporting on APA accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

Teaching 27 credits at the graduate level (13.5 for half-time) with a focus on clinical supervision and clinical training.
Provide at least one day or evening of onsite clinical supervision to DU’s clinics.
Maintain high teaching standards informed by best practices in pedagogy and leveraging available technologies.
Pursue relevant and needed professional development.
Engage in scholarship including publications, presentations, research, and/or grant-related work.
Serve on PsyD student doctoral paper committees.
Exhibit good citizenship through collaboration and service on committees to support PsyD, GSPP, the University, community, and national and global efforts.
Participate in PsyD and unit-level meetings.
Participate in the PsyD admissions process.
Participate in PsyD competency exams.
Provide high-quality academic advising for PsyD students.
Serve on university or unit committees.
Uphold GSPPs commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through all professional activities.
Ensure compliance with APA and DU standards.
Recruit and retain excellent intern training opportunities.
Oversee practicum selection, training, and evaluation.
Address site or student issues, including writing and managing student development plans related to practicum training.
Coordinate with sites on logistical and clinical matters, including conducting regular site visits.
Manage the program administration, including contracts, website updates, data and reporting, and budget.
