About The Position

Background: The University of Florida (UF) Department of Urology at UF Health Shands Hospital is currently seeking a BC/BE Urologist for a full-time faculty position to meet the expanding clinical demands of our region. As a tertiary referral center serving North Central Florida, Southern Georgia, and surrounding communities, our department experiences a high volume of patients requiring specialized care for complex urologic conditions. To sustain our mission of providing timely, high-quality care, we are looking to expand our current team of nine full-time urologists. The successful candidate will join a mature and robust practice with a primary clinical focus on the office and surgical treatment of urinary stone disease and BPH cases. Due to the increasing number of patients requiring metabolic evaluation, prevention care, and advanced surgical interventions—including ureteroscopy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy—there is a critical need for an additional fellowship-trained expert to manage this workload. Advanced Clinical Resources and Support To support the high patient throughput and the complexity of cases encountered at a top-tier public school (ranked 7th in the nation), the department provides an extensive infrastructure designed for clinical efficiency. This includes: • HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) technology. • Four daVinci surgical robots and UroNav MRI-US fusion prostate biopsy technology. • A dedicated urologic oncology nurse navigator. • Eight shared mid-level providers who are specifically integrated into the workflow to support the candidate’s clinical practice and ensure patient care is managed effectively. Academic and Research Excellence This position offers the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of fellowship-trained specialists in reconstruction, oncology, and pediatrics. Beyond clinical duties, the candidate will serve as a mentor and teacher for UF urology fellows, residents, and medical students. For candidates interested in academic advancement, the UF College of Medicine provides a superb research environment, having exceeded $100M in NIH funding in 2018. Protected research time is available for qualified candidates, with mentorship provided for those looking to establish independent research or participate in clinical trials through the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute and UF Cancer Center.
