Position Summary: Under the direction of the IT Applications Manager, the Clinical Application Analyst II takes full ownership of assigned clinical and ancillary systems, serving as the primary subject matter expert and technical leader for those applications. This role drives system optimization, leads project workstreams, and makes independent configuration and design decisions within scope. The Analyst II serves as the escalation point for Analyst I staff, mentors junior team members, and acts as a strategic partner to clinical departments and organizational leadership.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of work experience in Application/Software support required.
  • Demonstrated leadership or project management experience required.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to perform root-cause analysis.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and influence without direct authority.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect technical solutions to clinical and business outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an accredited college preferred; emphasis in healthcare, information management, or adult education is a plus.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) or Practice Management (PM), Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of assigned clinical applications, accountable for system performance, stability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide Tier III support for assigned high-volume software systems during business hours, after hours, and weekends as required; serve as the escalation point for Analyst I staff.
  • Perform advanced technical support, root-cause analysis, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems and associated interfaces.
  • Lead vendor interactions, escalations, and relationship management for assigned applications.
  • Review and analyze system and performance indicators; independently resolve complex issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional application support with other Information Technology teams.
  • Serve as the technical and subject matter expert for assigned applications for users, team members, vendors, and management.
  • Act as a strategic liaison between assigned clinical departments, end users, and technical personnel.
  • Lead coordination and maintenance of current systems for assigned departments.
  • Provide in-person support for providers and end users during and after clinical system implementations and upgrades.
  • Identify, plan for, and develop department-specific requirements for future clinical product considerations and system roadmaps.
  • Analyze and document user requirements, procedures, and problems; independently design and implement solutions.
  • Provide leadership and strategic coordination with department super users to drive clinical operational improvements.
  • Own and ensure the completeness and accuracy of all documentation including workflows, build/configuration activities, change management adherence, end-user notifications, training materials, and status reporting.
  • Develop, document, and maintain system design procedures, build standards, test procedures, and quality standards for the team.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives; translate identified inefficiencies into actionable optimization plans.
  • Ensure all team documentation practices align with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead training for end users on system upgrades, new installations, and workflow changes.
  • Drive educational initiatives related to clinical application utilization, data reporting, and clinical technology.
  • Mentor Clinical Application Analysts I, providing technical guidance, feedback, and development support to prepare them for increased responsibility.
  • Model professional standards and serve as a resource for team knowledge-sharing.
  • Serve as project lead or workstream owner for small-to-medium application projects, owning deliverables, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Schedule and facilitate project meetings; manage stakeholder communication and expectations.
  • Provide regular written and oral project status reporting to the IT Applications Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in system-wide Information Services projects, contributing senior-level expertise and leadership.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, system roadmapping, and technology decision-making discussions.
  • Makes independent configuration and design decisions within the scope of assigned systems.
  • Resolves complex Tier III issues without escalation; escalates only when organizational-level decisions are required.
  • Defines and enforces documentation and build standards for the team.
  • Influences technology and vendor decisions through subject matter expertise and stakeholder engagement.
