Clinical and Ancillary Services Leadership Opportunities Across Alaska Rural Staffing Services partners with rural hospitals, clinics, Tribal health organizations, regional health systems, community health centers, and healthcare organizations throughout Alaska to identify experienced leaders across clinical and ancillary services. We are currently connecting with professionals who may be interested in active and upcoming sterile processing, surgical services, laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary, diagnostic services, and related department leadership opportunities across Alaska. These opportunities may include leadership within Critical Access Hospitals, community hospitals, Tribal health organizations, regional health corporations, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, village-based programs, outpatient centers, specialty clinics, and integrated rural healthcare systems. This Is More Than a Department Leadership Role In Alaska, clinical and ancillary leaders play an essential role in keeping healthcare services safe, reliable, and available across enormous geographic distances. In many communities, access to laboratory testing, imaging, surgery, respiratory care, rehabilitation, pharmacy, or specialty services may depend on the strength and stability of one local department. These leaders may oversee smaller teams with broad responsibilities, support services across multiple locations, coordinate with regional partners, and help maintain access when staffing, transportation, weather, equipment, or supply challenges arise. The strongest leaders understand both the technical demands of their specialty and the importance of communication, teamwork, staff development, cultural respect, and operational consistency. They are visible, practical, collaborative, and willing to help solve problems beyond the boundaries of a single department.

Requirements

Progressive experience in the relevant clinical or ancillary specialty
Previous leadership experience as a director, manager, supervisor, regional leader, or comparable department professional
Strong knowledge of department operations, quality, safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements
Experience leading teams, managing workflows, and supporting employee development
The ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, executive, Tribal, and regional teams
Experience with budgeting, staffing, equipment planning, supply management, or performance improvement
The ability to lead effectively when staffing, specialty support, transportation, or resources may be limited
Experience serving rural, remote, frontier, underserved, or culturally diverse populations
Experience with rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, Tribal health organizations, regional health corporations, FQHCs, Rural Health Clinics, or community healthcare organizations
Experience supporting services across multiple locations or significant geographic distances may be valuable
Relevant education, licensure, registration, or certification based on the specialty
A visible, practical, dependable, and relationship-focused leadership style
Specific qualifications will depend on the position. Some opportunities may require or prefer credentials related to nursing, sterile processing, laboratory science, radiologic technology, pharmacy, respiratory care, rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary services, or another clinical specialty.
Licensure, credentialing, travel, call, and experience requirements will depend on the organization and role.

Responsibilities

Providing operational and clinical leadership for a specialty department or service line
Supporting safe, high-quality, patient-centered, and culturally respectful care
Leading, mentoring, and developing clinical, technical, or support teams
Managing staffing, scheduling, productivity, call coverage, and department workflows
Supporting recruitment, retention, orientation, training, and employee engagement
Developing and maintaining policies, procedures, protocols, and quality standards
Ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, licensing, infection-prevention, and safety requirements
Preparing for surveys, inspections, audits, credentialing reviews, and departmental assessments
Managing supplies, equipment, vendors, contracts, budgets, and capital needs
Planning for equipment maintenance, replacement, and supply-chain challenges in remote or isolated locations
Improving communication and coordination across departments, facilities, and communities
Supporting process improvement, service growth, access expansion, and operational efficiency
Collaborating with physicians, nurses, executives, Tribal partners, regional leaders, and other department managers
Monitoring quality, safety, productivity, staffing, access, and service performance
Supporting telehealth, regional consultation, and care coordination when specialty resources are not locally available
Helping maintain services during vacancies, weather disruptions, transportation delays, or other operational challenges
Supporting teams that may serve multiple communities or facilities
Helping ensure essential healthcare services remain available closer to home
