About The Position

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is hiring a Clinic Services Rep to support patients in its OB/GYN Clinic. The role provides clerical support in an ambulatory patient care setting and encompasses the hospital’s mission, vision, and values. It involves delivering customer service to patients by phone and in person, including scheduling and rescheduling appointments.

The OB/GYN Clinic serves women from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, primarily from the St. Louis metropolitan area. It provides outpatient OB-GYN and nursing care, including prenatal care, well-woman exams, family planning, health promotion, prenatal screening, diagnosis, treatment, and education.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for 40 hours per week, with no weekends or holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Less than 2 years of experience.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient referral procedures by managing work queues, in-baskets, and faxes, and initiate the pre-authorization process.
• Run eligibility checks in software to confirm insurance coverage.
• Provide clerical support, including scanning documents, preparing charts, managing electronic correspondence, and responding to general inquiries.
• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments with the department and other areas, such as radiology, procedure areas, and other testing, at checkout.
• Interact and communicate effectively with patients and families and direct them to available resources, such as financial assistance and social work.
