About The Position

The Clinic Receptionist is expected to work with minimal supervision and is responsible for the prompt, courteous, and accurate registration of Cancer Center patients. This role involves interacting with patients, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring patient confidentiality.

  • Attends annual mandatory hospital in-service programs.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Typing speed of 30-40 wpm required.
  • Must be able to pass the “Clerical Ability Test” with 80% or better as given by the Human Resources Department.
  • One to two years’ previous experience in the commercial health care environment required.
  • Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
  • Near visual & hearing acuity required to perform essential duties of position.

Responsibilities

  • Greets each patient entering the clinic in a friendly manner.
  • Obtains accurate and complete data from each patient admitted.
  • Accurate submission of the patient information to the Physician Practice Management System.
  • Input patient insurance information with accuracy.
  • Obtains patient’s signatures on appropriate forms.
  • Answers the phone courteously and attempts to satisfy caller’s requests.
  • Performs duties as assigned by the Office Supervisor.
  • Properly protects and preserves patient confidentiality.
  • Makes charts for new patients.
  • Answers telephone, filters calls, takes messages and distributes them.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Enters new patients in the computer, gathering all insurance, addresses, and medical history.
  • Maintains patient no-shows.
  • Files lab reports in patient's charts.
  • Pulls charts each day for patients coming in.
  • Takes payments and charge slips.
  • Makes appointments.
