About The Position

The Clinical Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating day-to-day activities of the clinic team members engaged in clinical care for patients under the supervision of the provider. Coordinates with clinic scheduler and surgery scheduler to ensure appropriate management of provider's time, both in clinic and in the operating room, to ensure the clinic runs smoothly and is manageable for the physician. Ensures the continuity of high-level patient care and efficient patient flow by ensuring the healthcare team follows clinical standards of excellent care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or ability to obtain Registered Orthopedic Technician (ROT) certification successfully within 6 months from date of hire and maintain certification renewal every 2 years, required
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality and follows all HIPAA guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a similar role, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical duties, as appropriate, such as taking vital signs, setting up and assisting with minor procedures, point of care testing, etc.
  • Assists physicians with clinical procedures, such as injections/aspirations, casting, wound management, etc. This may include drawing up medications (ensuring they are not expired), prepping the patient, and handing the physician supplies as needed.
  • Retrieves and enters patient data for MRIs, X-Rays, EMGs, etc.
  • Coordinates surgery scheduling as needed.
  • Ensures rooming of patients is completed in a timely matter to maintain clinic flow for providers.
  • Receives incoming patient calls and returns patient calls in a timely manner.
  • Records accurate, complete, legible and timely documentation as needed in the patient’s medical record.
  • Provides patient education as it relates to treatment recommendation.
  • Maintains complete patient medical information, including prepping charts prior to appointments, scribing during the clinic, and completing charts after the clinic. This includes documenting phone encounters and/or nurse visits appropriately.
  • Assists providers with ordering medications and diagnostic testing.
  • Coordinates physician's practice, relating to patient care, charting, and coordinating patient visits with scheduling staff to ensure smooth clinic flow.
  • Ensures high quality clinical care for patients by reviewing and researching concerns or complaints and recommending corrective action as appropriate.
  • Monitors and follows-up on ordered patient tests (MRIs, CTs, labs, etc), patient referrals; ensures physician is kept up-to-date by regularly communicating results.
  • Completes patient paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous, infectious, and pharmaceutical waste.
  • Prepares, cleans and sterilizes, and/or reprocesses, instruments and maintain equipment according to organizational standards.
  • Anticipates and proactively plans for provider and patient needs.
  • Provides open and timely communication and information to patients, families, and providers as appropriate.
  • Reports pertinent observations and information, both written and verbal, to appropriate staff.
  • Assists in orientation of new team members.
  • Maintains all necessary certifications and licensure, including first aid and/or CPR, state licensure, national certifications, and continuing education.
  • Stays up to date on required trainings such as OSHA, Medicare fraud/waste training, bloodborne pathogens training, and sexual harassment training.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality and follows all HIPAA guidelines.
  • Identify and recommend policies and procedures as needed to ensure quality, compliance, accuracy and cost efficiency.
