About The Position

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. The position is for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, working full time for 72 hours per pay period on the night shift. The role is intended for a new graduate within the first year of orientation; employees move to Level II after one year of experience. Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 444-bed hospital and part of Covenant Health, a nonprofit health system with nine hospitals and nearly 150 service locations. The hospital provides specialized services including stroke care, bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care.

Requirements

Must have and maintain a Tennessee State RN license.
CPR required.
Must meet the standards for achievement of the required license and certification.
New graduate within the first year of orientation; moves to Level II after one year of experience.

Responsibilities

Complete nursing history and initiate patient education.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
Implement a plan of care appropriate to the diagnosis.
Evaluate care outcomes.
Problem solve and coordinate unit and patient care assignments, with supervision.
Introduce new employees and students to unit routines.
Participate on unit-based committees.
Demonstrate competence in critical skills and provide care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete required annual education assignments.
Work toward achieving goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
