Friends of the Earth is a progressive environmental organization focused on protecting the planet and its people. The Climate, Energy, and Oceans Team works to address the root causes of climate change and protect oceans and coastal communities. This team uses research, advocacy, coalition building, policy, and public mobilization to fight for environmental justice and an equitable transition away from fossil fuels. This specific role focuses on preventing the commercialization and deployment of risky geoengineering schemes. The Campaigner will manage day-to-day work, conduct research and analysis, cultivate relationships with coalition partners, and contribute to campaign strategy and policy development. The role requires interdisciplinary work, including understanding oceanography and atmospheric research, drafting permit comments, coordinating with diverse partners, and preparing materials for international treaty talks. The science and politics of geoengineering are still developing, offering an opportunity for impactful campaign work.
