About The Position

The Climate Change Policy Manager provides technical and strategic policy leadership and support to ensure the program delivers against SEAG2G’s climate change strategy objectives. Where time permits, the role also supports the integration of First Nations and localisation strategies across program delivery. Where required, the role also supports the Team Leader on bespoke policy advice to SEAG2G and DFAT to ensure programming remains relevant, responsive and aligned to evolving strategic policy priorities, especially as they pertain to climate change and First Nations objectives. Working collaboratively across all teams and stakeholders, the position drives evidence-based decision making, technical climate change support, policy coherence and effective mainstreaming of climate change, as well as other cross-cutting priorities.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in climate change or similar, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Minimum five years of relevant climate change experience, preferably in government roles and/or DFAT programs.
  • Strong understanding of DFAT policies and priorities, or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire.
  • Experience working in Southeast Asian contexts.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and cross-program collaboration skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including both written and verbal English language skills and demonstrated ability to craft concise, compelling policy documents.
  • Ability to work under pressure and, at times, meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a dispersed team, including online with team members in different locations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with multiple stakeholders and interrelate with various cultures and sectors.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and an instinct for innovative solutions, working within complex institutional structures.
