Stockton Safe Stay is a sanctioned place for anyone who is experiencing homelessness on the streets of Sacramento. Working as part of a team, CSAs will monitor and direct the clients in all areas of the campus. CSAs are responsible for keeping safety watch, day and night, and performing conflict resolution should issues arise. CSAs are to build a rapport and trust with clients in hopes to get them the resources and services they need in hope to end their cycle of homelessness! The Stockton Safe Stay is for adults 18 and over and the CSA staff will work mainly as lot attendants at various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and facilitate the transition of guests/clients from the intake areas to shelter/cabins; provide tour of dining, counseling, meeting and/or classroom areas.
  • Maintain sustained concentration and mental focus sufficient to perform essential job functions accurately and safely.
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in time-sensitive or high-stress situations.
  • Regulate emotions and maintain professional composure when interacting with clients, coworkers, or the public.
  • Process and analyze information, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ensure all clients and visitors are checking in and out of the facility.
  • Keep a safety watch day and night (per assigned shift) and lead conflict resolution should issues requiring intervention arise.
  • Assist guests/clients when needed.
  • Escalate any observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults, and elder/senior citizens to Management’s attention.
  • Help clients access stored possessions (if any) and process their exit from the facility as required.
  • Distribute and serve meals to the clients.
  • Receive, process, distribute, and store donation items received from the public to support the clients in the program.
  • Disinfect and clean assigned shelter beds/cabins while facilitating the movement of client belongings from one location to another.
  • Perform facility cleaning and maintenance, including facility cleanup.
  • Write clear and legible daily activity logs and incident reports.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary as assigned or requested by the Site Supervisor and/or Program Director.
