Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional experience, with demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, professional environment.
  • Understanding of accounting or finance.
  • Articulate communicator.
  • Proficient in Excel: Must be able to demonstrate experience using spreadsheets to analyze data and build models.
  • Confident Communicator: Experience in presenting complex data insights with clarity to key stakeholders.
  • Growth Mindset: Demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning from each challenge faced. A "Win or Learn" mindset is the standard here.

Responsibilities

  • Client Onboarding
  • Utilizing Excel to extract, transform, and load financial, utility, and infrastructure data from local governments into Waterworth. Initiatives for data automation are highly encouraged!
  • Financial Forecasting: Use accounting fundamentals and domain knowledge to build and calibrate forward-looking financial models that turn data into visual stories.
  • Strategic Advising: Support community growth by partnering with City Managers, Finance Directors, and Public Works Directors to deliver critical insights for their long-term strategic planning.
  • Conducting live online presentations for councils, boards, and the public to aid in informed decision-making.
  • Build Meaningful Relationships: Earn trust and credibility as a go-to advisor for senior municipal leaders through consistency, integrity, and insight.
  • Accounting & Financial Acumen: Understand key accounting/finance concepts and apply that knowledge to real-world challenges in public sector contexts.
  • Proficient in Excel: Demonstrate experience using spreadsheets to analyze data and build models. Candidates will be tested on their Excel skills during the interview process.
  • Confident Communicator: Experience in presenting complex data insights with clarity to key stakeholders.
