Client Servicing Solutions Lead - Senior Vice President

CitiJersey City, NJ
$176,720 - $265,080Onsite

About The Position

Citi's Investor Services Technology group is seeking an exceptional Software Engineer to join as a hands-on technical leader building the Investor Services Workbench (ISW) — Citi's unified platform for client onboarding, lifecycle management, operational workflow orchestration, and real-time business activity visibility across Custody, Fund Services, and Securities Finance. This is an Engineering role first. The right candidate uses AI-assisted development tools to write production ready code and ships features on a continuous cadence. You will be embedded within ISW delivery squads, contributing directly to backend services, workflow engines, API layers, and client-facing features, while also serving as a domain authority who ensures the platform is built on a sound understanding of Custody and Fund Services operations. You will collaborate closely with product owners, UX engineers, data architects, and operations SMEs. Your code, your reviews, and your domain knowledge will directly shape how institutional clients and Citi operations teams experience the Workbench.

Requirements

  • Advanced AI-Assisted Development — A Must, Not a Plus
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem — including Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring WebFlux, and Spring Integration
  • Strong frontend capability in React and TypeScript— able to build, review, and own feature-complete UI components, state management patterns, and API integration layers
  • Deep experience with event-driven architecture— Apache Kafka, schema registries, Avro serialization, consumer group management, and exactly-once delivery patterns
  • Hands-on experience with BPM / workflow engines— including BPMN modelling, saga orchestration, and long-running process management
  • Proficiency in GraphQL API design including federation, schema stitching, resolver optimization, and data loader patterns for high-throughput institutional data APIs
  • Strong command of cloud-native patterns— Kubernetes, service mesh, circuit breakers and distributed tracing.
  • Rigorous testing discipline — unit, integration, contract (Pact), and performance testing with measurable coverage standards and automated quality gates
  • AI Proficiency: Advanced, daily usage of AI pair-programming tools— GitHub Copilot, Devin, Cursor, or equivalent — with demonstrated ability to use them to accelerate feature delivery without sacrificing code quality
  • Proficiency in prompt engineering for software development— crafting effective prompts for code generation, refactoring, test synthesis, and technical documentation across complex enterprise codebases
  • Experience in validating and reviewing AI-generated code— understanding failure modes, hallucination risks, security implications, and how to tune AI output for production-readiness
  • Hands-on experience building LLM-powered product features— RAG pipelines, conversational search, document Q&A, or AI-assisted workflow interfaces using LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent
  • Ability to integrate LLM APIs(OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, AWS Bedrock) securely into production Java/Spring Boot services — with appropriate rate limiting, fallback handling, and cost controls
  • Understanding of AI governance in regulated environments— model risk considerations, data privacy constraints, and responsible AI practices relevant to financial services
  • Custody operations: Working understanding of settlement instruction processing, DVP/FOP flows, corporate actions (mandatory and voluntary), income collection, asset servicing, and reconciliation — at the level needed to design and review software implementing these processes
  • Fund Services: Familiarity with fund administration workflows — NAV calculation inputs, fund accounting transaction types, investor register management, transfer agency operations, and fund reporting data structures
  • Knowledge of key industry data standards: SWIFT MT/MX messages, ISO 20022 pain/camt/sese formats, and their mapping to internal IS data models
  • Understanding of client onboarding and lifecycle management in institutional asset servicing — account opening, KYC/AML data requirements, mandate capture, and ongoing client instruction management
  • Awareness of the regulatory context for Custody and Fund Services technology: AIFMD, UCITS, SFTR reporting obligations, and audit trail requirements that shape system design decisions
  • Appreciation for the complexity of multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction, multi-asset-class institutional operations data and its implications for software design
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and ship production-quality features across the ISW backend (Java/Spring Boot) and frontend (React/TypeScript) — contributing to every sprint with meaningful, reviewed, merged code.
  • Use AI pair-programming tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) as a first-class part of your daily workflow — for code generation, test synthesis, refactoring, documentation, and API design acceleration. Champion adoption across squads.
  • Apply deep Custody and Fund Services domain knowledge to translate business requirements into technically precise, implementation-ready specifications — bridging the gap between operations SMEs and engineering squads without information loss.
  • Design and build complex, multi-step business workflows using event-driven patterns on Apache Kafka — covering client processing activities, exception escalation, SLA monitoring, and lifecycle state machines for IS operations.
  • Build AI-powered features directly into the ISW — including LLM-driven intelligent assist for operations teams, NLP-powered search and query across IS data, and RAG-based knowledge tools that surface contextual insights within the Workbench UI.
  • Design clean, versioned REST and GraphQL APIs that expose ISW capabilities to the client portal and internal consumers — ensuring API contracts are well-documented, backward-compatible, and aligned with IS canonical data models.
  • Elevate the engineering quality of the wider ISW team through rigorous code reviews, pairing sessions, architecture discussions, and knowledge sharing — particularly around AI tooling adoption, domain-driven design, and clean code practices.
  • Champion engineering excellence — writing comprehensive unit, integration, and contract tests; instrumenting observability with Open Telemetry; conducting chaos engineering experiments; and maintaining the ISW platform at five-nines operational standards.
