Requirements

  • High School Diploma with Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in children’s residential care, behavioral health, or other setting that requires behavioral intervention, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations of alleged client/patient rights violations across agency programs, including allegations of neglect and abuse. Investigations may include interviews with clients/patients, and staff, review of documentation, video review of behavioral interventions to determine whether least restrictive means were used (specific to youth residential treatment center) and coordination with external investigators (e.g., county departments of children’s services and law enforcement).
  • Communicate with clients/patients, client/patient family members, and other individuals regarding concerns of client/patient rights violations; investigate and respond in writing to client grievances.
  • Collect, document, and process written grievances submitted by youth within the residential treatment center and foster care program.
  • Field, document, and appropriately dispatch complaints and concerns from clients/patients, patients, family members, and other stakeholders.
  • Electronically file reports for major incidents to Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (“ODBH”).
  • Review incident reports and assist with determining appropriate reporting, escalation, and follow-up actions.
  • Monitoring of changes in Ohio law and accreditation standards related client’s rights and other related topics; update agency policies and procedures to reflect changes and communicating changes to program directors.
  • Support preparation for accreditation, certification, and licensing reviews.
  • Develop and update staff training and documents related to client/patient rights and other compliance topics as requested.
  • Assist Compliance Officer and Compliance Specialist with internal audits and compliance monitoring activities on an as-needed basis.
  • Support corrective action plan development and follow-up activities related to identified compliance concerns or audit findings.
  • Analyze and report data related to investigations and unusual incidents to the agency’s performance and quality improvement committees, agency Board of Directors, and various ADAMHS Boards.
  • Attend monthly Client Rights Officer meetings at the local ADAMHS Board.
  • Participate in agency’s Performance Quality Improvement committee meetings and initiatives as applicable.
  • Participate in agency’s Internal Review Board as needed to assure the protection of client/patient rights in agency research studies.
  • Related duties other than those indicated above, as assigned by Compliance Officer.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • May be involved in the organization, and implementation of specific events, specific projects, or program changes.
