About The Position

Lerners is seeking a full-time Client Referrals Clerk to support our Health law Group. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with diverse clinical experience in varied practice settings. This position is based in London, Ontario and is an in-office position. The deadline to apply is May 21, 2026, at 11:59pm.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with several years of diverse clinical experience across varied practice settings.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Highly developed organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of referrals.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a strong command of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and initiative.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships and adjust to diverse personalities and situations.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict client confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, detail-oriented environments.
  • Collaborative team member who accepts responsibility and contributes effectively within a disciplined administrative setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in direct-to-client service is an asset, supported by a strong commitment to client-service excellence.
  • Knowledge of Ontario health care legislation related to regulated health professionals is an asset, along with an interest in law generally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and technical support to members of the Health Law Group, responding to requests received by email or telephone.
  • Conduct research to obtain technical and medical information and references, including preparing technical memoranda to summarize and report on research findings, as required to support Health Law lawyers in the defense of referred clients.
  • Receive, accept, and process client referrals in accordance with established firm and client protocols to ensure timely, high-quality legal service and compliance with Law Society regulations. This process includes, but is not limited to: Answering client referral calls, Conducting conflict searches and following up investigations to identify and resolve potential conflicts, Accurately entering referral information into Lerners’ Health Law Partner database, Preparing Intake Reports and Client Identification Lists to document referral instructions and information obtained during referral calls, Identifying key referral details and providing them to the Health Law Group Practice Leader (London) or Deputy Practice Group Leader (Toronto) to obtain assignment instructions, Ensuring timely initial contact and follow-up by the assigned lawyer with the referred client, Completing follow-up data entry to ensure referrals are fully and accurately documented in Health Law Partner.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the Health Law Group Administrator and Administrative Clerk to support data accuracy, integrity, and completion of all administrative processes and records related to referrals.
  • Maintaining administrative records related to client files and retainer monitoring.
