About The Position

Performs admission interview process, performs registrations and orders lab tests. Ensures all Medicare, insurance and managed care requirements are met. Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests and knows all safety requirements. Performs additional test procedures such as EKG and therapeutic INRs. Performs specimen collections for urine, nasal and throat swabs. Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements and limitations of testing procedures. Acts as a resource for laboratory information. Processes specimens for testing, storage, and site batches if applicable.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent GED.
  • Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in use of computers including word processing.
  • Requires three months customer service experience.
  • Requires experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Phlebotomy experience is 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a Clinical Phlebotomy certificate, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood.
  • The Phlebotomy Certificate must include a minimum of 32 hours of a clinical rotation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
  • Outreach employees must have a Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s license with less than 3 points on his/her record if being hired into department # 40110.
  • MVR must meet NRHS MVR policy criteria or Defensive Driving must be taken.

  • Prefer 1 year of experience in a medical setting.
