About The Position

Gulf Stream Marine, an Enstructure Company, is hiring for a hands-on role supporting safe, accurate, and efficient terminal and stevedoring operations. The Clerk In Charge (CIC) records cargo movements—including discharge, stowing, and loading—to and from customer carriers. The role monitors, counts, verifies, and documents cargo across vessel, warehouse, yard, and trucking operations, ensuring cargo is properly handled, accounted for, and documented. The position primarily handles steel cargo such as pipe, tubing, coils, and flats, and requires prior experience with this commodity.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving in a warehouse, yard, or stevedoring environment.
At least 1 year of experience handling direct steel cargo.
Attention to detail when following and performing basic instructions.
Conscientiousness about safety and quality of work.
A proven record of dependability and ability to work autonomously.
Strong mathematical and computer skills for maintaining counts and tallies.
Availability to work long hours, holidays, and weekends.
Ability to read and write in English.
Ability to keep counts and tallies.

Responsibilities

Count, inspect, sort, identify, and record the storage location of cargo discharged from vessels.
Count, inspect, sort, identify, and record the stow location of cargo being loaded onto vessels.
Load and unload trucks.
Receive cargo delivered by trucks.
Directly load pipe trucks and sort cargo by purchase order, reference number, and other identifiers.
Ship cargo from the yard to trucks.
Load rail cars.
Mark cargo and take its dimensions.
Maintain written tallies and records.
Maintain records using electronic equipment, including a tablet and scanner.
Assist in training Checker I and Checker II employees in steel cargo.
Train ship and terminal clerks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
