About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Clerical Support Associate to join their Inpatient Cardiology team. Humber River Health is North America's first fully digital hospital, committed to improving healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. They serve a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto and are affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University. The role involves providing clerical support, patient registration and discharge, maintaining patient records, order entry, and statistics. It also includes customer service aspects such as scheduling appointments, handling inquiries, and greeting patients and visitors. The position requires communication with various departments for patient placement and service coordination.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year full time equivalent recent clerical experience required.
  • Good keyboarding skills, with minimum typing speed of 40 WPM.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills required, including an ability to prioritize a varied and busy workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to cope with tight deadlines, frequent interruptions and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Applicants may be required to successfully complete full administrative testing, to include typing speed and MS Office.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Community College Medical Secretary Diploma an asset.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course preferred.
  • MEDITECH computer experience an asset.
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for clerical support including patient registration and discharge, maintenance of patient records, order entry and statistics.
  • Responsible for customer service including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, telephone inquiries, greeting patients and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Communicates with bed allocation and other departments to arrange patient placement.
  • Communicates with other departments and service areas.
