About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Clerical Support Associate to join their Birthing Unit. This role is crucial for providing essential clerical support, ensuring efficient patient registration and discharge, maintaining patient records, managing order entry, and assisting with billing. The position also involves significant customer service duties, including scheduling appointments, responding to patient and telephone inquiries, and courteously greeting patients and visitors. The associate will also be responsible for communicating with bed allocation and other departments to facilitate patient placement and coordinate with various service areas as needed. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year recent clerical/office administration experience in a health care setting required
  • Good keyboarding skills, with minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
  • MEDITECH computer experience required
  • A good working knowledge of basic related medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Community College Medical Secretary Diploma an asset
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for clerical support including patient registration and discharge, maintenance of patient records, order entry, statistics, and assisting with patient billing.
  • Responsible for customer service including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, telephone inquiries, greeting patients and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Communicates with bed allocation and other departments to arrange patient placement.
  • Communicates with other departments and service areas as required.
