Humber River Health is seeking a Clerical Support Associate to join their Haemodialysis Department within the Nephrology Program. This role involves providing essential administrative, clerical, and customer service support in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Community College Office Administration Diploma (preferably Medical) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of full-time recent clerical experience, preferably in an out-patient health care setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize a varied and busy workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to cope with tight deadlines, frequent interruptions, and emergency situations.
  • Good keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Very good spelling, proofreading skills, minute writing, and math skills.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline-free record.

Nice To Haves

  • MEDITECH computer experience.
  • Experience in community-wide scheduling.
  • Recent hospital clerical experience, especially in nephrology.
  • Recent registration experience in Nephrology.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients and their families.
  • Provide administrative, clerical, and customer service support, including reception duties, answering telephones, and organizing tests, procedures, and lab work.
  • Communicate regularly with the Dietary department, inputting and monitoring information in Thoughtwire.
  • Register patients for appointments and apply armbands within a 30-minute window.
  • Re-book missed wheel-trans rides and assist drivers in locating patients.
  • Book appointments in community-wide scheduling and make changes to patient schedules.
  • Collect and submit statistics and data as required, including ORRS data.
  • Manage unit staffing tasks according to guidelines, in consultation with the Manager or designate.
  • Provide other clerical support as requested by the Resource Nurse/Manager.
