As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating a variety of administrative and patient support functions, including managing incoming calls, scheduling patient appointments and reminder calls, patient registration, processing physician orders, coordinating diagnostic and laboratory testing (both internally and externally to the hospital), preparing patient charts, scanning, filing, faxing, and facilitating effective communication within and outside the department. You will also support clinic operations through processing and supporting referrals into the departments, inventory management and supply ordering. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to patient confidentiality and privacy, maintaining all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). This position works primarily days and contributes to a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Additional duties may be assigned in accordance with operational needs and the job fact sheet. Requirements

  • Completion of a Health Office Administration program is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of current clerical experience is required.
  • Successful completion of secondary school is required.
  • Working knowledge of Meditech and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Current understanding of patient flow processes and clinical operations within an outpatient clinic is required.
  • Typing speed of 60 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proven experience interacting professionally with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare partners.
  • Strong critical-thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and develop efficient workflows.
  • Reliable attendance and commitment to maintaining a high standard of performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Cerner/Oracle experience is preferred
  • OCEAN experience is preferred
