About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine duties of a clerical nature to support the needs of the assigned department or location. The Clerical Assistant I performs various clerical duties including entering information into computer systems, processing registration forms and purchase requisitions, issuing parking permits and room keys, and photocopying materials. They also gather, sort, and route information and materials as appropriate. The role involves compiling and maintaining various records, logs, and files, such as attendance, registration, enrollment, applications, time sheets, mailing lists, inventory, or statistical records. Additionally, the position answers telephones, greets the public, provides routine information, and schedules appointments and meeting rooms. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and distributing mail, and operating office equipment like personal computers, typewriters, calculators, copiers, and postal machines. The role also involves ordering supplies, stocking shelves, and maintaining adequate supplies. The Clerical Assistant I may train and provide work direction to others, and must learn and apply emerging technologies. A key aspect of the role is participating in District/College efforts to increase diversity and address student achievement gaps, contributing to an inclusive work and educational environment, and attending DEI trainings. The position may also serve as a cashier, receiving and counting money, making change, and issuing refunds. Examples of essential functions are descriptive and not restrictive.
