Cleared Network Operations Cloud Engineer, (Clearance Required - Secret), Hybrid Remote & On-Site OK, UT, PA

Hewlett Packard Enterprise•All, Oklahoma, United States of America, OK
•$109,000 - $251,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Join a team operating secure, mission-critical private-cloud infrastructure where network availability, resilience, and security directly support essential customer operations. This is a hands-on opportunity to solve complex engineering challenges, strengthen a highly regulated environment, and help shape how advanced cloud and network services are operated at scale. You will bring strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking fundamentals, experience in secure data centers and Disconnected Cloud Environments, disciplined ITSM execution, clear documentation, and confident ownership in customer-facing situations.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance are required at application. Candidates must be able to maintain the clearance and obtain customer-specific access.
  • DoD 8140-compliant baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or an approved higher-level certification, required upon start.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, network engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressive network engineering or operations experience, including hands-on responsibility for complex enterprise, Datacenter, private-cloud, or federal environments.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Layer 2/3 networking, TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Experience supporting SDN or VMware NSX environments, including tenant connectivity, segmentation, routing, and security-policy troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, DNS/IPAM, monitoring, and packet-analysis platforms.
  • Experience with secure or regulated infrastructure, including Zero Trust, hardening, STIG/SRG implementation, CKL review, vulnerability remediation, Tenable or ACAS validation, segmentation, access control, evidence collection, and RMF/ATO documentation.
  • Strong communication and judgment, with the ability to work independently through ServiceNow-based incident, request, change, problem, knowledge, CMDB, CAB, and escalation processes while collaborating with customers and engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal mission environments, including classified and non-classified networks, disconnected or air-gapped operations, Government-Furnished Equipment access, and controlled transfer or sanitization of operational data and evidence.
  • Experience with SCCA, disconnected or air-gapped private cloud, hybrid-cloud connectivity, tenant onboarding, multi-tenant routing and segmentation, and integration with platforms such as ServiceNow, OpsRamp, Elastic, Tenable, Cohesity, Morpheus, and identity services.
  • Advanced experience with VMware NSX-T and Juniper routing and switching.
  • Experience with Palo Alto, Infoblox or BlueCat DDI, Cisco or Aruba, VRFs, EVPN/VXLAN, IPv4/IPv6, IPsec, policy-based routing, and high-availability design is preferred.
  • Familiarity with network automation, configuration validation, and repeatable workflows using Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, APIs, version control, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, PKI, Linux/UNIX, and related infrastructure technologies.
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, relevant network-vendor certification, cloud certification, or advanced cybersecurity credential.
  • Experience leading technical troubleshooting sessions, mentoring engineers, creating training content, or coordinating work across mission partners.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, datacenter, and disconnected-cloud networks across classified and non-classified environments, including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, DNS/IPAM, and network-management platforms.
  • Resolve complex connectivity, routing, policy, performance, and application-delivery issues using packet capture, monitoring, logs, and structured troubleshooting.
  • Execute approved network and security changes through ServiceNow, including firewall policies, access controls, load-balancing profiles, routing, and DNS updates, while maintaining incident, request, problem, and knowledge records.
  • Support and troubleshoot VMware NSX tenant networking and secure private-cloud connectivity, including tenant segments, routing, security policies, and infrastructure-to-cloud integration.
  • Partner with cloud, virtualization, systems, security, architecture, and application teams on tenant onboarding, workload migrations, technology refreshes, continuity exercises, disaster recovery, and production deployments.
  • Translate approved architecture into diagrams, low-level designs, implementation and test plans, operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-transfer materials for out-of-band connectivity, IPsec, NAT, segmentation, and customer integration.
  • Monitor service health, identify recurring risks, and improve reliability through automation, standardization, knowledge sharing, and disciplined problem management.
  • Lead customer and cross-functional technical discussions, communicate status, risks, dependencies, and recovery actions, identify ownership or architecture gaps, and drive resolution through engineering, security, and governance channels.
  • Review network and NSX STIG checklists, document findings, implement approved hardening, and maintain audit-ready evidence through change management.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide evening or weekend support when mission requirements demand it.
