About The Position

The Supervisor, Cleaning Department, is responsible for supervising the activities of the cleaning staff to ensure cleanliness and order in laboratories, clinics, dormitories and offices. He/she assigns tasks to workers and inspects work to ensure compliance with prescribed standards of cleanliness. He/she evaluates and recommends cleaning supplies and equipment, and conducts periodic inventories.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and/or cleaning school training.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a cleaner.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in team management.
  • Bilingualism (English and French, oral and written).
  • Effective communication skills, able to interact pleasantly with staff at all levels.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Driver's license required (for travel between our Montreal and Laval sites).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the work activities of the cleaning staff within the department.
  • Evaluates clinic occupation schedules to provide an adequate number of cleaners to ensure cleanliness of facilities.
  • Identifies appropriate tasks and shifts for different operational areas of the company.
  • Through an internal support system, responds, plans and implements corrective measures and actions to ensure rapid response and internal customer satisfaction.
  • Organizes orientation and on-the-job training sessions to explain work policies and procedures, and to demonstrate the use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Makes recommendations where necessary.
  • Verifies accuracy of staff weekly timesheets and submits on time for approval.
  • Responsible for communicating high-level instructions, complaints from immediate supervisor and site management to cleaning crew.
  • Responsible for hiring cleaners when necessary.
  • If necessary, replaces absent housekeeping staff.
