About The Position

This is a CBA position. The Cleaning Mech/Tech II will disassemble, clean, and reassemble components and assemblies for the purpose of cleaning contamination to a specified cleaning standard, requirement, or per instruction. Work may be performed under direct supervision or in coordination with another technician for complex tasks or may be performed independently for common work. Maintain and operate under clean room standards. Log data for work performed and provide reports or data to customers. Bag and tag items to maintain cleanliness and tracking of flight and non-flight purposes. Train less experienced technicians and verify work as required. Prioritize tasks with supervisor or lead technician. Maintain cleaning equipment, order consumables, and assist with lab inventory. Receive and ship customer items; interface with quality inspectors as required. Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to hold necessary security clearances.
  • Familiarity with cleaning processes and standards.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of prior clean room experience or in a related area.
  • Knowledge of the following cleaning methods: abrasive, chemical (solvent based), ultrasonic.
  • Clean room protocols and knowledge of maintenance procedures (sticky pads, filter change out, etc.).
  • Handling of NASA flight hardware.
  • Maintaining simple inventories.
  • Ability to complete purchase requests for materials/consumables.
  • Knowledge of NASA and JSC cleaning specifications, cleaning processes, and quality control procedures.
  • Must be able to see color differentiation when using ultraviolet light.
  • Requires occasional: Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above or below ground level.
  • Hearing with or without correction.
  • Bending, kneeling crouching, squatting and/or crawling from one to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Reaching for, handling and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
  • Requires Frequent: Lifting to 20 pounds from ground level and waist level.
  • Requires Constant: Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
  • Carrying up to 20 pounds for 20 yards.
  • Standing.
  • Seeing with or without correction.
  • Ability to: Follow set procedures and standards.
  • Planning work and selecting proper tools.
  • Follow written and oral directions, plans and blueprints.
  • Picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked.
  • Recognize and report safety hazards.
  • PPE and clothing for clean room environment must be worn.
  • A respirator may be used when filling/using chemical.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
