About The Position

New York Tech’s Long Island campus seeks a Cleaner to perform routine custodial and cleaning duties and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment in accordance with established standards and procedures. The position is covered under the 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM.

Requirements

Previous professional cleaning industry experience is required.
Adhere to NYIT policies and procedures, including time and attendance requirements and policies regarding NYIT-issued uniforms.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend and stoop, climb a six-foot ladder, and work near or in confined spaces and storage rooms.
Valid New York State driver’s license.

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect buildings, including handling trash and recycling and removing bottles and paper.
Sweep and mop surfaces manually.
Manually and mechanically scrub, strip, wax, vacuum, extract, shampoo, dust, polish, and buff surfaces.
Clean light fixtures.
Foam showers and restrooms.
Select and mix cleaning chemicals properly.
Sanitize and disinfect surfaces and fixtures using auto scrubbers, buffers, vacuum cleaners, power washers, carpet extractors, and hand tools.
Restock bathroom supplies as needed.
Follow direction from NYIT administration, management, and supervisory teams in a timely and professional manner.
Optionally complete Facilities condition assessments or inspections to communicate conditions through the University or Department.
