About The Position

The Cleaner works under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and performs a variety of custodial duties for C&W Services in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures. The position includes routine and periodic cleaning of building interiors and entrances, maintenance of bathrooms and public areas, trash removal, and reporting observed defects. The job title indicates a first-shift position.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required for basic cleaning responsibilities.
• Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Ability to use a portable backpack-style vacuum cleaner.
• Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other interior surfaces.
• Operate commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines, including attachments.
• Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot-clean daily and shampoo rugs when directed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and other horizontal surfaces, including periodic high dusting.
• Wash windowsills and glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, both interior and exterior, and wash or spot-clean interior walls as appropriate.
• Clean bathrooms daily, restock paper supplies, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, empty waste baskets, clean surfaces and fixtures, and sweep, mop, or scrub floors.
• Monitor for possible defects, such as clogged urinals or lights that are out, and report them to supervisors.
• Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and move it to the designated collection area.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers according to specifications.
• Sweep or shovel snow from steps, building entrances, and connecting walkways or sidewalks as directed.
• Perform periodic work such as high dusting, polishing leather and wood surfaces, and wall washing.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
