About The Position
This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the school premises, as well as monitoring lunch periods. The role involves a variety of cleaning tasks, light maintenance, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. The position also includes duties during school closure periods, such as floor stripping and sealing, and high-level dusting.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Health & Safety guidelines.
- Ability to safely use chemicals and cleaning materials.
- Proficiency in operating cleaning machinery (e.g., vacuum cleaners, polishers).
- Ability to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
- Good communication skills for reporting hazards and defects.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including moving furniture and boxes.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with floor stripping and sealing.
- Experience with high-level dusting.
- Experience with wall washing.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for cleaning allocated parts of the school following Health & Safety guidelines.
- Safe use of chemicals, cleaning materials, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Operation of cleaning machinery for soft and hard surfaces.
- Maintenance of all school standards of hygiene and safety for cleaning equipment and closets.
- Reporting any hazards, defects, or equipment breakdowns to the Operations Manager.
- Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors.
- Spot cleaning of spillages.
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors, and polishing door glass.
- Emptying and cleaning bins.
- Cleaning toilets, including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
- Wiping, polishing, and straightening furniture.
- Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets.
- Checking and closing windows, and switching off lights after work.
- Monitoring lunch and cleaning up tables between lunch periods for the 3-6 building.
- Light maintenance work, including moving furniture and boxes, and breaking down boxes.
- Undertaking routine cleaning during school closure periods, which may include stripping and sealing floors, high-level dusting, and wall washing.
- Performing other duties as requested.
