About The Position

Green Energy Consumers Alliance is a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower consumers and communities to speed a just transition to a zero-carbon world. We fulfill our mission by combining consumer-facing programs with public policy advocacy at the state and local levels in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We have twenty employees in offices in Cambridge and Providence. We work in multiple clean energy sectors: renewable energy, heating, transportation, energy efficiency, grid modernization, and more. We have a variety of funding sources – grants, commissions, contracts, donations, but our dominant source of revenue is earned income through our green electricity program. This position will serve as the Co-Director of the Ocean State Clean Cities & Communities Coalition and support Green Energy Consumers other clean transportation work, particularly its Drive Green program. The successful candidate will reside in Rhode Island and be familiar with its communities; have subject matter expertise in the realm of alternative fuels, particularly electric vehicles; and have demonstrated experience managing stakeholder relationships and project/grant timelines and deliverables. This position is funded with federal funding. Its continued existence is contingent on the continuation of the CC&C partnership or potentially new funding sources. The final title of this position (“Coordinator” vs “Manager”) will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the chosen candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated passion for decarbonization in the transportation sector
  • Subject matter expertise in the realm of alternative fuels, particularly electric vehicles
  • Experience managing grant timelines and deadlines, deliverables, budgets, and reporting
  • Experience building and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Experience with community outreach and education
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience presenting to large and diverse audiences
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to travel to and attend events in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including occasional evenings and weekends (mileage reimbursed)
  • A team-oriented attitude; willingness to support a small team by being flexible and adaptable
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Google Suite (Gmail, Groups, Drive, etc.)
  • Present residence in Rhode Island and knowledge of its communities
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster shot

  • Connections with key stakeholders in Rhode Island, such as state energy and transportation agencies; municipalities; regional planning agencies; community organizations; or alternative fuel, technology, and service providers
  • Fluency in a language spoken by large immigrant populations in Rhode Island, particularly Spanish or Portuguese
  • Supervision experience
  • Owning or leasing an electric vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date and informed on EV and other alternative fuel technology manufacturers, models, charging equipment, charging network build-out, incentives, etc.
  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of in-person events (in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts), webinars, blogposts, newsletters, and emails
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including community-based organizations, municipalities, regional planning agencies, technology providers, fuel providers, service providers, utilities, state agencies
  • In collaboration with Electric Vehicle Program Director, develop a coalition strategic plan and quarterly work plans
  • Ensure the coalition meets Active and Effective Requirements to maintain DOE designation
  • Ensure performance and timely reporting of deliverables to DOE and other funders
  • Provide day-to-day management of internal administration and external programs/activities
  • Reengage past stakeholders and expand list of active stakeholders, collaborating closely with them and supporting them as needed, including by providing technical assistance (or connecting stakeholders with technical assistance partners) and helping stakeholders access funding opportunities and deploy clean technology
  • Represent the coalition at external events and with the DOE
  • Develop coalition communications and plan and host events in collaboration with Green Energy Consumers’ marketing team
  • Supervise an intern and/or staff to assist with program implementation, as appropriate
