About The Position

Green Energy Consumers Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the transition to a zero-carbon world through consumer programs and policy advocacy in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. With twenty employees across two offices, the organization works in various clean energy sectors including renewable energy, heating, transportation, and energy efficiency. The primary revenue source is its green electricity program, supplemented by grants, commissions, contracts, and donations. This role will serve as the Co-Director of the Ocean State Clean Cities & Communities Coalition and support Green Energy Consumers' other clean transportation initiatives, particularly the Drive Green program. The position is funded by federal sources, with its continuation dependent on the CC&C partnership or new funding. The final title will be determined by the candidate's experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Passion for decarbonization in the transportation sector.
  • Subject matter expertise in alternative fuels, particularly electric vehicles.
  • Experience managing grant timelines, deadlines, deliverables, budgets, and reporting.
  • Experience building and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with community outreach and education.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience presenting to large and diverse audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to travel to and attend events in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • A team-oriented attitude; willingness to support a small team by being flexible and adaptable.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Google Suite (Gmail, Groups, Drive, etc.).
  • Present residence in Rhode Island and knowledge of its communities.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster shot.

Nice To Haves

  • Connections with key stakeholders in Rhode Island, such as state energy and transportation agencies; municipalities; regional planning agencies; community organizations; or alternative fuel, technology, and service providers.
  • Fluency in a language spoken by large immigrant populations in Rhode Island, particularly Spanish or Portuguese.
  • Supervision experience.
  • Owning or leasing an electric vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Stay informed on EV and alternative fuel technologies, including manufacturers, models, charging equipment, network build-out, and incentives.
  • Contribute to the creation and delivery of various communication materials such as in-person events, webinars, blog posts, newsletters, and emails.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with diverse stakeholders in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including community-based organizations, municipalities, regional planning agencies, technology providers, fuel providers, service providers, utilities, and state agencies.
  • Develop a coalition strategic plan and quarterly work plans in collaboration with the Electric Vehicle Program Director.
  • Ensure the Ocean State Clean Cities & Communities Coalition meets Active and Effective Requirements for DOE designation.
  • Ensure performance and timely reporting of deliverables to the DOE and other funders.
  • Provide day-to-day management of internal administration and external programs/activities for the coalition.
  • Reengage past stakeholders and expand the list of active stakeholders, providing support, technical assistance, and help in accessing funding and deploying clean technology.
  • Represent the coalition at external events and with the DOE.
  • Develop coalition communications and plan/host events in collaboration with Green Energy Consumers’ marketing team.
  • Supervise an intern and/or staff to assist with program implementation, as appropriate.
