About The Position

The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is seeking a Clean Energy Manager (Planner 4G, grade G27) to lead a significant transit electrification and facility resilience initiative. This role is crucial for transitioning the County's bus fleet to 75% zero-emission by 2030 and 100% by 2045. The selected candidate will be the agency's senior expert in fleet electrification, charging infrastructure, facility resilience, and clean energy integration within transit operations. This is an execution-focused leadership position for a professional experienced in delivering complex, capital-intensive infrastructure programs within public transit systems, aiming for measurable progress, operational reliability, and long-term resilience against climate and grid challenges.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business or public administration, urban and regional planning, environmental studies, economics, energy policy, urban studies, housing and community development, public health or closely related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of responsible professional planning/program development experience in the area of assignment
  • At least one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.
  • Ability to serve as an essential employee, reporting during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies, and to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, procurement, and deployment of zero-emission buses and charging infrastructure
  • Manage $5M+ capital projects, including vehicle acquisition and facility upgrades
  • Oversee design, engineering, construction, and commissioning of ZEB charging systems
  • Develop funding strategies and financial plans to support long-term fleet transition
  • Coordinate with utilities, state and federal agencies, and regional partners
  • Lead whole-facility resilience assessments (energy, security, communications, operations)
  • Develop data-driven performance evaluation frameworks
  • Provide executive briefings and represent the County in high-level stakeholder settings
