Glassboro Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates in the capacity of a Classroom Teacher. This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: Assumes professional responsibility for the educational instruction and supervision of assigned students in accordance with the courses of study approved by the Board of Education. Plans a program of study and lessons that strives to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Implements a course of study that includes the identified New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standard and Cumulative Progress Indicators. Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and including positive attitudes toward learning. Manages the learning environment in a manner that contributes to the efficient accomplishment of both individual teaching assignments and the overall operation of the school. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports, as required. Guides students toward maximum achievement, appropriate actions and decision making by counseling with students, parents, and colleagues. Identifies the learning needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists, when appropriate. Assists in curriculum development and in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Attends staff meetings and serves, as appropriate, on staff committees. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy. Supervises behavior in the hallways, lunchroom, and on school grounds for the safety and wellbeing of students, personnel, and visitors. Performs duties which are within the scope of his/her employment and certifications as assigned by his/her supervisor in accordance with N.J. State Law, State Board of Education Rules and Regulations, Local Board of Education Policies, and contractual obligations. Strives to maintain awareness of current development, interpretations of subject matter content, and methodology of teaching in the subject area (s) to which assigned. Demonstrates professional and personal attributes that contribute to the quality of school life. Maintains ethical and professional behavior in working with school personnel and other agencies. Performs other specific duties assigned by the administration.
