About The Position

Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA) teachers create rigorous, supportive learning environments and help scholars master academic and social skills. Teachers set ambitious achievement goals, plan and deliver rigorous instruction, assess mastery, track progress, and intervene or adjust instruction as needed. The role emphasizes standards-based, data-driven teaching and supporting students in underserved communities.

PLA’s educational model uses rigorous curricula, data-driven instruction, differentiated learning, small-group instruction, and one-to-one intervention. Teachers are expected to contribute to a caring school community and support scholar achievement, persistence, satisfaction, and attendance.

Requirements

• Passion for working with students and families in underserved communities.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with appropriate endorsements if applicable.
• Valid state teacher license or enrollment in a credentialing program.
• Effective pedagogical skills driven by standards and data-driven assessment.
• Experience tracking and using data to drive instruction.

Responsibilities

• Ensure scholars develop the academic and social skills needed to succeed.
• Set ambitious goals for student achievement and hold scholars accountable for accomplishing them.
• Create a powerful learning environment and plan and deliver rigorous instruction.
• Assess for mastery, track scholar progress, and intervene or adjust instruction as necessary.
• Use data to drive instruction and support student growth.
• Support the targets of 100% of scholars meeting projected ELA and Math growth goals, 85% scholar satisfaction, 90% scholar persistence through the academic year, 95% average daily attendance, and 1.5 years of growth for each scholar performing below grade level.
