About The Position

U School is a program run by the University of Alberta Senate that introduces and connects students in grades 3 through 9 from socially vulnerable, Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) and rural communities to the University of Alberta. Classes, with their classroom teachers, attend a week-long immersion experience on campus led by our U School staff team. Each week's unique schedule is built around the teacher's application, Alberta curriculum and the many opportunities available at the U of A.

Requirements

  • Internal candidates and former employees of the University of Alberta will be given priority consideration before external candidates.

  • U School student engagement and safety
  • student journals and activities
  • classroom leadership
  • teacher support and engagement
  • volunteer support and recognition
  • detailed record keeping
  • related administrative tasks
  • creation of positive working relationships with participating Faculties and campus units
  • serves as a key contact for U School student participants, teachers, parents, school administrators, program volunteers, and presenters
  • travel to various schools
