About The Position

This promotional opportunity is open only to current classified monthly salaried employees of the San Diego Unified School District who were recently impacted through layoffs and named in the impacts and effects tentative agreement(s). San Diego Unified School District, the second largest district in California and one of the top largest urban school districts in the United States, is looking for professionals who care deeply for students and are committed to the communities in which they serve. The work schedule is 10 months per year / 35 hours per week. Employees must be available to work in person Monday-Friday, with the shift time offered within the school bell schedule. This position is paid on the Paraeducator Salary Schedule, Grade 032.

Requirements

  • Current classified monthly salaried employees of the San Diego Unified School District who were recently impacted through layoffs and named in the impacts and effects tentative agreement(s).
  • High School diploma/GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associate’s degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university.
  • Submit an online employment application electronically by the closing date.
  • Application MUST include all required attachments, current and previous employment history and education to evaluate your qualifications, and all other requirements identified in the recruitment and application questions.
  • Provide a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school and/or state special school (also known as a Local Education Agency (LEA)) with which you have previously been employed, regardless of the length of service.
  • Provide a complete employment history, listing every educational employer.
  • Provide the email address for that employer's Human Resources or Personnel Office in the Employer Email field.
  • Attach required documents (PDF format recommended): Verification of Education (Copy of a degree or official transcript, Copy of Licenses and/or Certifications).
  • If coursework was completed outside the US, provide a Foreign Equivalency Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field is desirable.
  • A resume may be attached, but not substituted for completing the work history, education sections, or the additional application questions of the employment application.

  • Individuals who have completed high school or college-level coursework at an institution in a country other than the United States must provide a Foreign Equivalency Certification.
  • Attach a Cover Letter / Letter of Intent (Optional).
  • Attach Letters of Recommendation (Optional).
  • Attach any additional documents, if any.
